CPS Wellness Committee

About the Wellness Committee

The Cranston Public Schools Wellness Committee meets several times each school year. It includes high school students, staff from across the district, School Committee members, food service leadership, community health and wellness partners, and central office administrators.

The committee is guided by the district's Wellness Policy, which was updated in 2025. Its work includes exploring grant opportunities, developing new initiatives, and creating subcommittees to support wellness programming throughout the district.

Committee Priorities

The Wellness Committee promotes a healthy school environment by addressing various topics that support the well-being of students and staff. Areas of focus include mental health, nutrition, cyberbullying prevention, social media safety, and physical health and fitness.

2025-2026 Highlights

During the 2025-2026 school year, the Wellness Committee sponsored a districtwide staff walking challenge that included participants from all 23 schools and 31 district programs. The top four teams received awards for their efforts.

Through grant funding, the district also provided secondary students with access to a virtual fitness app featuring educational fitness modules ranging from beginner to advanced levels. Staff members may also access the platform independently to support their own wellness goals.

Looking Ahead

The Wellness Committee is planning a Staff Wellness Fair to kick off the 2026-2027 school year and continues to explore new opportunities to support the health and well-being of students and staff across the district.

Upcoming Meeting Dates: TBD, will be posted upon scheduling
