Goals

At Western Hills Middle School it is our belief that all children should be educated in the least restrictive environment. We are actively involved in all aspects of the special education continuum. The reasons for our many successes include the collaboration of teachers, parents, building support staff and administration.

If you have any questions about our program or your child, please contact your child's case manager. They will be happy to assist you.

Parents

At WHMS we actively encourage parental involvement. In addition to asking you to attend your child's annual IEP meeting, we will be sending home quarterly progress reports. These differ from the report cards in that they measure your child's progress towards their specific IEP goals.

As an IEP team member we need your input for our meetings. Prior to the IEP meeting, a worksheet titled "Preparing for your child's IEP meeting" will be sent to you. (see link on this page) Please bring this completed sheet with you.

Homework Sites

BJ.Pinchbeck's Homework Helper: This award winning site developed by a student and his father includes a wonderful collection of homework helping Web sites.

Information Please Kids' Almanac: This is a great site for research particularly, on current events. It also includes links to information on sports and "cool stuff."

Ask Dr. Math: This will be a welcome site for students doing their math homework.
