Course Descriptions
Grade 7:
Desktop Applications
Students will identify the importance of and develop introductory skills in
publishing programs. Through instruction and activities students will become
familiar with the important aspects of desktop publishing including exposure
to Microsoft Publisher, and Microsoft Office applications. Utilization of
design concepts, problem solving and creative thinking abilities are emphasized.
Applications included are:
Microsoft Office, Keyboarding, Scanning, Uploading Pictures, Video and Digital Manipulation of Images
Grade 8:
Robotics/Transportation
Systems/Practical Hands-On Application in Design/Engineering
This course provides students with the knowledge and skills needed in computer
simulated design, as well as practical application in designing and building.
The combination of computers and hands-on building provides students with
the opportunity to better understand the integration of the various component
systems.
Telecommunications/Advanced Desktop
Students gain experience using the Internet to develop introductory skills
in telecommunications. Students gain understanding of electronic communications
by sending, receiving and maintaining an e-mail account. In addition to their
e-mail activity, students also develop on-line experience by using the World
Wide Web to search for, and publish information attained from search engines.
Acceptable use and Internet etiquette are emphasized
