NAVIGATORS' SUCCESS CODE
Academic excellence is
our goal.
We will respect each other, our teachers, and our school.
Our achievement will be determined by preparation; what we do at home, and
what we bring to class.
We will be proud of what we do, and who we are.
We must chart our course for success!
Team News
The Navigators have weathered
through the first quarter! We have learned to negotiate hallways and lockers,
practiced managing responsibilities, and increased our awareness of the world
around us.
The transformation from elementary to middle school is an ongoing process.
As we move into the second quarter, the team teachers will continue to reassess
each student's performance. Some scheduling changes may be beneficial since
we all want each child to reach full potential. You will be notified before
any change occurs.
Thank you for your continued support with our theme of Respect and Responsibility.
Looking forward to a great
second quarter,
The Navigators team teachers

The year has just begun
and already the Navigators are on the move. Students are getting comfortable
with the schedule, learning how to use locker time, and snack time, and becoming
familiar with what each teacher on the team expects. As a team of teachers
we try to be consistent with our requirements, rules, etc., yet we hope our
individual personalities, styles, and techniques make our curriculum exciting
and challenging. Academic excellence is our goal. Respect and responsibility
are what we insist on. Our students must have a reading book with them at
all times. They also need a planner and something to write with.
The middle year of middle school is a transition from the parent and teachers
sharing much of the responsibility of getting the student to succeed, to getting
the student, themselves, to accept that responsibility. We do have some suggestions
to help achieve this goal. Talk to your child. Have them show you their reading
books, planners, notebooks, tests, quizzes, and homework. Check their backpacks
the night before to see if they are prepared for the following day. Try to
be patient with them and give them strategies that will help them to be more
successful. Don't feel that you have to do their homework for them or teach
them yourself. Have them seek extra help from the teacher if they are confused.
Don't let them 'off the hook' if they are not following through with responsibilities,
but also don't forget to praise them for their successes, even if they are
small.
In our team meetings we try to focus on the positive and recognize achievement
in all areas. We have a very active and talented team.
We promote working together, good sportsmanship, and having fun while learning.
We want students to want to come to school and feel that good attendance is
critical to success.
We are looking forward to upcoming field trips. Hope to see you then. Support
the PAB. Contribute to the Walk-a-thon. Don't forget our team slogan:
The Navigators chart their path to success!
