3. Secretary’s Report
- Can be found the Park View website following PTPV meetings.
4. CEAB Report- Lissa DiMauro
- CEAB website: www.freewebs.com/ceab
- The Chairperson of the group has stepped down and some reorganization is happening within the group.
5. Fundraising Ideas
- Another fundraiser in the works for Spring.
- Mr. Hanley has formed a sub-committee for middle school baseball. There are some issues with raising money and using it due to Title Nine. Mr. Hanley is going to work to rectify this. By including girls in basketball, the Title Nine requirements would be satisfied and money raised could be used toward the sports.
- The PTPV thanks all those who worked so hard at the Family Dinner night and book fair. We raised over $500 and chose to use it in book profit for the library to make it fair for the whole school.
6. Comments from Mr. Rotz and Mr. Crudale
- Heidi Pimentel (present at the meeting) a parent from Chester Barrows is informing us of “Two” a group of two brothers who are jugglers from Maine. Their show is impressive. They will perform for school children, and provide interaction. During the day on March 30th they are performing for Chester Barrows and in the evening at the Park View auditorium at 7:00 for $5.00 per person (children under 3 are free), which is open to the public. Perhaps adding a day show for Park View students could be looked into.
- The school improvement team is organizing grants. One is for a courtyard, for outdoor lunches (as a reward) and reading. A committee is being established to write a grant for a 1:1 model, which means providing a laptop or IPad for every student.
- Formal Winter Dance is upcoming. Mr. Rotz is going to look into a faculty member who may want to take pictures in place of Mrs. Hawkins.
- Dr. Phillipelli, will present at the end of January. He is a professional on cyber bullying and social networking dangers, and will be providing a day (for students) and evening (for parents) presentation.
- Positive Behavior program starting after February Break. The recognition of model behavior and positive behaviors will be met with rewards and privileges.
- This month, the budget for our schools is being decided. It is important for parents to be present at School Committee Meetings and City Council meetings.
- NECAPP scores come out in January to the school. Parent copies do not come until February, usually late February, when the district decides distribution.
- Mr. Rotz apologizes for his business lately; he is in the process of observing classes and evaluating teachers.
- 95% of our teachers are using Aspen, some teachers are still being trained, however are not as of yet required to use it.
- SurveyWorks requests were sent out to parents, please fill out the survey. The students will do them in February.
- Mr. Crudale continues to try to get a buzzer for the front door. The cost is $2000-3000 for a buzzer with camera.
- Mr. Bishop has been rewiring the whole building in order to have a TV station, which is now working. Morning announcements, sports reporter, and soon weather are broadcast to the entire building. It is a great addition, and continues to improve.
