Dear parents/guardians:
The second quarter is now underway. As we’re sure you are aware, many students are now in the pool.
Most classes consist of just the girls. However, due to scheduling conflicts, some of the classes are co-ed.
On days your child has swim, they will be required to have all the necessary items needed to participate. For example, a swimsuit, towel, soap for the shower, and a plastic bag to take their wet suit home in at the end of the day. Swim googles are optional, although they are recommended.
Although free swim occurs occasionally, there is a lot to be learned while in the swim program. By the end of your child’s swim session they will be assessed on approximately twenty different skills. As always effort is taken into consideration for the novice swimmer during these assessments.
While swim is taking place in the pool for some, we also have classes that are taking place upstairs in the gym. Our first unit of study is basketball. Students are refining their basic skills, such as dribbling, shooting, and passing. They will then get to use their skills in game play.
The students will also have the opportunity to use our state of the art fitness facility where they will be engaging in cardiovascular endurance exercise by using spin bikes, elliptical trainers, and treadmills. In addition to their cardio workout, they’ll be able improve their muscular strength and endurance by using our Body Masters and Cybex machine circuit. We also have our newly refinished aerobics studio. In this room students will participate in step aerobics, cardio kickboxing, and the P90X program. They’ll also have the opportunity to use our new Xbox Kinex System.
All in all, we are looking forward to another exciting and productive quarter.
In closing, we’d like to wish you all a healthy and happy holiday season.
Mr. Bouchard, Mr. Macera, Mrs. Saccoccio, and Mr. Kavanagh
