Parental permission is not necessarily recognized as legitimate reason for tardiness or absence.

1.   Students who are absent from school should have a parent or guardian call the school before 8:30 a.m. to report the absence to the main office of Park View. The telephone number to call is 270-8090.

2.   Students must have a written excuse explaining their absence on the first day they return to school. The excuse should be given to the homeroom teacher. Please include student’s name, grade, homeroom, dates of absence, reason and parent’s or legal guardian’s signature. Since a parent’s signature is required, excuses that are
e-mailed are unacceptable.

3.   Students who have been treated by a doctor or at a medical facility must submit a medical note from the doctor to the school nurse on the first day they return to school. Note must include: student’s name, dates of absence, reason for absent and doctor’s signature.

4.   Excessive absences will be referred to the truant officer (Refer to page 11 for Truancy policy).

5.   Tardiness - any student coming to school late - after the 8:00 a.m. late bell until 8:10 a.m. is to report directly to the homeroom.  Homeroom teacher should assign teacher detention. After 8:10 a.m., students who are late to school are to report to Room 106. Any student who fails to do so faces suspension as a penalty. Students who are late to school must bring a note explaining the reason for the late arrival to the attendance secretary on the next school day.

6.   Students who are tardy to school without an excuse will receive detention after their third tardy and a letter will be sent home.  Any tardiness after the third tardy could result in morning detention (7:00 a.m.-7:50 a.m.) , Friday detention, in-house or out of school suspension.

7.   Students who walk to school should plan to arrive before 7:50 a.m. The doors of the school are opened for students at 7:30 a.m. Since bus students arrive according to scheduled arrival times it is important that non-bus students arrive at the time suggested above. Breakfast will be available from 7:30 a.m.-7:50 a.m.
