Dr. Johnson is from Cranston, Rhode Island. She graduated from Cranston High School East. From there, she went to the University of Rhode Island where she received her Bachelors Degree in Natural Resources. After graduation, she moved on to Auburn University in Alabama for her Master of Science and then on to University of Maine for her PhD in Wildlife Science. After finishing her PhD, she moved to Minnesota, where she spent five years studying amphibians and wetland habitats. Now, she is working as a wildlife biologist with the Monongahela National Forest in West Virginia, where she works with all sorts of animals, including amphibians. There are many of the same species in West Virginia that she became familiar with in New England and Minnesota. But, there are some species that were new to her, including a salamander that is listed as a federally endangered species. |
