Edgewood Q&A

I know you have many questions about this temporary relocation:
Here are some questions and answers:
What time will school start and end at Norwood Avenue School?
Starting on Thursday, January 11, 2018, the same school schedule will be in place at Norwood Avenue.
If my child has an IEP or a 504 will they be serviced at Norwood Avenue School?
Yes, all services will be in place at Norwood Avenue. All records have been transferred to Norwood Avenue.
If my child takes the bus, will the bus take my children to Norwood Avenue School?
Yes, the bus will pick up and bring home at the same stops, as usual.
Will we have additional/different crossing guards?
We have asked the Cranston Police Department to assist us with relocating crossing guards to accommodate students who walk to school.
Will the school provide lunch as usual?
Yes, Aramark will provide breakfast and lunch to the children.
Will the staff be going to Norwood Avenue with the children?
Yes, everyone except the pre-school will be housed at Norwood Avenue. All guidance staff, service providers, teachers, TA's, etc. will be housed at Norwood Avenue with the students.
Can we see my child's classroom at Norwood Avenue?
We really want to give the teachers a chance to set up their classrooms, and get students settled and organized. We will plan a small coffee with the principal for parents to have a chance to see the school in the very near future.
Does my child need supplies or materials for the new school?
No, we will supply crayons, pencils, etc., as we normally do for children.
My child is on medications, will their meds be transferred to Norwood Avenue.?
Yes, the nursing records and medications will be at Norwood Avenue.
What about books, etc. for my child?
In grades K, 1 and 2, we have outfitted the classrooms with tables, chairs, materials and supplies from other schools within the district.
In grades 3, 4, and 5 all of their materials, desks, chairs, etc., have been moved to Norwood Avenue.
We would like to make donations to Edgewood to assist with this, what can I do?
Right now, we are able to get the students relocated and settled. In the near future, we will work with the PTO to organize any necessary fundraising or donation drive.
When will we be able to move back to Edgewood Highland?
We are hopeful that around February vacation, the school will be ready for re-entry. We must be sure that the school is cleaned thoroughly and we are given approval from inspectors to go back to Edgewood.
