Family Engagement Network:

Garden City School's School Improvement Family Engagement Network is a partnership between our school improvement team, families and the community. This partnership is based on the following beliefs of the Garden City School learning community:

We believe that partnerships that:

  • Enhance the capacity of school programs
  • Improve school climate including fostering a caring learning environment
  • Provide family support
  • Increase parent skills and leadership
  • Connect and engage families in the school and community
  • Support teachers with their work
  • Improve communications and connections at home, in school and in the community
  • Help all students succeed in school and later in life

We need your help

The Garden City Family Engagement Network is vital to our learning community. Parent volunteers provide our school with resources of experience, talent and skill to broaden each student's learning experience. FEN meetings are held monthly in the school library.

Co-Chairs: MaryAnn Casale & parent

Secretary: Mrs. Cari Petrella (we are looking for a Secretary for the 2010-2011 year)

Treasurer: Mrs. Stacey Howe (we are looking for a co-treasurer who would be willing to take the position for the 2011-2012 school year)

School Improvement Facilitators: Oversee & recruit volunteers for reading, writing, math and cultural arts activities.

After-School and Enrichment Facilitators: recruits and coordinates various activities for our after-school program.

Family Engagement Facilitators: coordinates volunteers to organize and set into motion activities such as our 2 Hour Club, Junior Achievement, Thanksgiving Food Drive and the Giving Tree.

Events Facilitators: recruits and coordinates volunteers for a variety of events such as the Fall Harvest Festival, Family Bingo, Spring Family Dance, Sixth Grade Events.
