Directions for creating your bibliography
with NoodleTools
1. Locate NoodleTools on the CW Library website. (http://cpsed.net/chsw/library/library.htm)
2. Click on "create a new folder".
3. For subscription type click "An account linked to my library's or
school's subscription".
4. You will be prompted for CHSW's passwords- AVAILABLE at the CW Media Center
AND listed on your blue or yellow library password card.
5. Fill in the "about you" section and create a login. SAVE YOUR
LOGIN- YOU WILL NEED IT TO ACCESS YOUR ACCOUNT IN THE FUTURE!
6. Once you have registered, click on NoodleBib 6.
7. Click on "start new list".
8. Click on "MLA Advanced", create a title for your citation list,
and click "Start Adding Citations".
9. Look in the blue bar at the top of the screen for the words- "I am
citing." Proceed to the drop down menu, identify the resource you are
citing and click on it. Click go.
10. The next 2 screens require you to confirm that you are choosing the correct
citation type and publication medium. Confirm or correct your choice and select
next.
11. Next identify what part of the resource you are citing. Click next.
12. The next screen is a form where you fill in the required information.
All fields with an asterisk must be filled in. Note the MLA rules listed next
to each field.
13. An option for checking the citations for errors appears at the bottom
of the form. Check the citation then update citation, complete the check then
click "Generate Citation"
14. To add more citations, return to step #9.
15. Note the "Options" box on the left side. In this box you will
see a variety of other options for manipulating your document. In addition
to previewing and emailing the document to yourself, be sure to save it as
an RTF (rich text format) so you can open it in a word processing program.
You may also change the title of your list.
16. Note the "edit, copy or delete" tabs on the right side.
17. Clicking on the "My Folder" tab at the top of the page will
enable you to view and access all the lists in your folder.
18. A "help" tab is provided if you have questions or problems along
the way.

If you are creating your
bibliography in MS Word, here are some helpful tips.
Microsoft Word Tips:
Citation Format:

Type the
individual citation in the correct order.
Once complete, put your cursor in front of the author’s last name. Go to FORMAT – PARAGRAPHS – INDENTATION –
SPECIAL – choose hanging.

Once the entire
works cited page is complete, you must put it in alphabetical order. Go to EDIT – SELECT ALL. Go to TABLE – SORT --- make sure it says TEXT
and click on ascending. This will
alphabetize your bibliography. (You may
need to go back and fix the spacing.)
