Movie Permission Slip

Life moves pretty fast. If you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

Ferris Bueller, from Ferris Bueller's Day Off

Parent Permission Form:

Dear Parent:

In English class, we often use movies to further develop the books we work with.  Sometimes we will view the movie version of a particular novel, such as The Great Gatsby, or To Kill a Mockingbird.  At other times, we will view movies that may be similar thematically or that compare/contrast well.  For instance, in tenth grade, we view Schindler's List (1994) to augment our unit on The Holocaust, and in the eleventh grade, we view Platoon (1986) in support of the Vietnam novel, The Things They Carried.

It is worth noting, that the material in both books from the curriculum and these supplemental movies may at times be graphic, and explicit in language, violence, and other mature themes.

If you as a parent feel this is unacceptable, please sign the bottom of this letter and your child will return it to me.  If I do not have a signed return slip I will assume that showing the movie to your child is acceptable to you.

-Mr. Pandolfini

My child is not permitted to view these movies.
